Scones

If you have tea time in the UK, one of the usual things that accompany your tea is scones. Scones are a favorite in the UK because of their tasty flavor and their easiness of making. They are also crumbly, slightly sweet, and moist, similar to American biscuits. The essential ingredients include sugar, milk, butter, and flour. Scones are usually round, and they are often filled with jam at the end. Although scones are quite common, they are high in calories and don’t contain nutritional content unless you add some fruits to it; however, they are still mostly unhealthy. It’s okay to have them once in a while but not too often. Like this post? You should check out my other posts; you might like them too!

Risotto

In Italian restaurants, one of the common things to find is risotto. You might be wondering, what is risotto? Rissoto is an Italian dish made from a particular type of rice called arborio rice. This type of rice is starchy, short-grained, and it can absorb lots of water without becoming soggy and mushy. In addition, it’s also what gives the risotto a creamy texture. When you make risotto, you add the arborio rice in a pot, and you slowly cook it while adding tiny amounts of liquid at a time. You would keep on doing this for about 20 minutes until your risotto is finished. A former chef named Danilo Alfaro recommends people to make their own risotto than ordering it from a restaurant. This is since risotto takes quite a while to make, and you can’t leave it for long because, according to Alfaro, “…the starch will start to congeal, causing it to turn stiff and gluey.” Instead, restaurants would cook it halfway and cook it again when a customer orders it, but it only takes half the time to cook it. However, it doesn’t taste as good as a freshly made risotto. If you have some spare time this weekend, I recommend trying to make risotto for your next meal!
